Barely days after ASUU ended their 5 month old strike, NMA has threatened to go full course as they plan to go on total strike if their demands are not met before January 6.
The main demand disturbing everyone is the tug-of-war between them and other health workers over who is named the CMD. the Doctors want it exclusively as their position, while the others want it to be free for everyone.
The CMD position is the highest in the hospital, or so it seems and the wrangling is understandable, considering that other health workers view Doctors as arrogant, while the latter seem to see themselves as the most capable set of hands to handle it.
In as much as I can understand the doctors, this show of power is actually been childish, to be mild. I don't see why other health workers cannot hold such post, considering that they are indispensable in effective health care service. The planned strike only shows lack of human milk of kindness, considering the special kind of service doctors offer.
Doctors should remember that the patient lives are in their hands and if any patient dies, the blood will be in their hands.
