Homosexuality: My thoughts about it

When President Jonathan signed the anti-gay law and entrenched it into our constitution, I expected the downpour of remarks, criticisms and sarcastic remarks from all over the world. Many people termed the law as an infringement on 'human rights', while others said it was a distraction, a ruse from the overwhelming failure of his government.

In as much as I see the 'distraction' theme having a bit of merit, I still feel we should not cover the importance of this law.

The concept of Homosexuality rubs salt on what is known as a Family worldwide. A Family  consists of a Father, Mother and Children, at least that what I know of it since childhood. That system has not been the best at all times due to the nature of Man, But overall, it still proves to be the best style. Many of the morally upright kids of today were brought up by that system( I don't think any homo parents has managed to do that). Now Imagine all that been swept under the carpet under the name of freedom. Yes, because if Homosexuality was legalized, the next issue they will look for is children, which cannot happen naturally by Homo sex.

Apart from that,  the appearance of two homo sex people cuddling or kissing in public is likely to cause some dysfunctional thinking, especially with kids. I can't my kid seeing two guys kissing themselves passionately in public and then asking me " Dad, can I do that?" or 'Daddy, look!' It ain't right, I tell you.

Many homosexual Advocates have screamed about the restriction of freedom they will face, among other things of course. But they should remember that there are limits to what we can actually call freedom. Total, unbridled freedom that a lot of people claim will lead to an identity crises of both the person and the society. For example, in a warped ideological sense, we can claim any sex with this concept of freedom. For example, a guy can say he is a girl and get hormonal changes( oops, this is already happening in this world) and that is, very, very wrong in my opinion. Imagine Mrs Salami saying something like this in front of Mrs Audu's son: 'Do you know that Mama Ebuka's son has changed to a girl.' While the women will continue chattering away, Mrs Audu's Son will start to think that such is OK, a thought line which will haunt him later in life. That is the kind of risk we face if we go along with this 'freedom move' and 'discrimination shouts'.

Finally, I want to ask all the homosexual activists : Is the American society better with homosexuality legalised? Has it reduced the number of crimes in America or other parts of the world? Has it led to stronger moral values in these countries or has that been weakened? You know the answer.

Having said all that, I feel that some adjustment should be made to the laws. For one, the fourteen(14) years imprisonment, I tell you will not deter Homosexuality in the country. It will rather make it grow. Why, you may say? It will because of the 'social psychology pattern' that I noticed in this country. Nigerians have a way to hide offences very well, when punishment like that are meted out. For example, despite the various imprisonments over corrupt charges, this country is no better for it, In fact, its worse. This is because people hide such acts and when they are exposed, they buy their way to a luxurious life in prison. At least that's what we are made to see. This has, of course made corruption more attractive. Similar situation will play itself out with these laws. The homosexuals, which were already in hiding due to social discrimination, will hide more and manage to get others into the act secretly, increasing homosexuality in the country.

Also, where will these homo inmates be placed? in the already overpopulated prisons with armed robbers and the likes from which they can learn more crimes? or with fellow gays who will enjoy being among the ' brethren?' These have to  be food for thought.

I feel that the Law should have just banned gay marriages and refuse to accept gay unions as family unions. Attacking and 'repressing' homosexuals will not change them, because its change we need from them , not killing or 'sanitizing' the country from them.

Strike Actions again and again

Barely days after ASUU ended their 5 month old strike, NMA has threatened to  go full course as they plan to go on total strike if their demands are not met before  January 6.

The main demand disturbing everyone is the tug-of-war between them and other health workers over who is named the CMD. the Doctors want it exclusively as their position, while the others want it to be free for everyone.

The CMD position is the highest in the hospital, or so it seems and the wrangling is understandable, considering that other health workers view Doctors as arrogant, while the latter seem to see themselves as the most capable set of hands to handle it.

In as much as I can understand the doctors, this show of power is actually been childish, to be mild. I don't see why other health workers cannot hold such post, considering that they are indispensable in effective  health care service. The planned strike only shows lack of human milk of kindness, considering the special kind of service doctors offer.

Doctors should remember that the patient lives are in their hands and if any patient dies, the blood will be in their hands.
